Graduate Lounge & Syndicate Rooms
The Graduate School of Science student lounge, toilets, kitchenette and two syndicate rooms are located on Level 1,
Alan Gilbert Building. Access to this area is either free or restricted
depending on the hour of entry:
- free access hours: 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday
- restricted access hours: 7pm to 11pm, Monday to Friday and 7am to 11pm, Saturday and Sunday
To access Graduate School of Science facilities during restricted hours, a student will need to have their student card authorised
to allow access into the Alan Gilbert Building. Student cards are activated at the start of semester.
How to book a Syndicate Room (Rooms 125 & 126)
Graduate School of Science students may book the syndicate rooms from 7am to 9pm, Monday to Friday and from
9am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday.
- To book these two rooms, go to ICT Meeting Room Booking System
and login using your student login & password;
- Select 'AG' in the 'Level' drop down menu;
- Select the date and scroll down to the bottom of the page to enter the booking details;
- Select the room & start & finish time you wish to book;
- Enter a reason e.g. 'Triple Helix Syndicate Group meeting';
- Press 'Schedule' and your booking will be entered in the system.
Safety
To ensure the safety of all people using Graduate School of Science facilities, please remember:
- If the building alarm rings, follow to evacuation procedures posted in each lift lobby;
- Assemble on the University Square lawns once you evacuate the building;
- For first aid or other emergency assistance, call Security on 8344 6666;
- An after hours escort service is available from Security;
- Report any safety concerns or incidents to Dr. David McFadyen;

Report to the Science Student Centre:
- If you have a problem accessing the facilities using your student card
- If there are any problems with the facilities in the Graduate School

- Any security issues or concerns regarding the facilities, especially out of hours.

- Any safety concerns or incidents relating to the facilities.
