Master of Science (Management Science)
What is Management Science?
Management Science is a field of mathematics that incorporates a business focus. It uses mathematical models
and analytical methods to help make optimised business management decisions at all levels strategic, tactical and
operational and within resource constraints.
The management scientist's mandate is to use these rational, systematic and scientific techniques to inform and
improve across sectors including finance and banking, telecommunications, energy and natural resources, healthcare
planning and medical therapies, transportation and logistics, manufacturing and defence.
The Masters in Management Science is aimed at students with bachelors' degrees in quantitatively oriented disciplines
including science, mathematics, statistics and operations research, engineering, information technology, computing,
agriculture, commerce, business, and social science.
Careers in Management Science
Graduates may gain positions such as business analysts, database specialists, information specialists, QA analysts,
operations research consultants or supply chain specialists.
Sub-specialisations includes transport logistics and stock management/inventory control.

Delivery mode and duration
This is a 2 year full-time course, and is available part-time. All program subjects are delivered on-campus (Parkville).
Entry requirements
A Bachelor degree in an appropriate discipline including mathematics, statistics and operations research, engineering, information technology, computing,
commerce or business, with at least H3 (65%) in the major or equivalent. As part of their degree studies, applicants must have completed an appropriate
sequence of mathematics and statistics or related subjects at at least second year level.

selection.
